For all the people out there who enjoy First Thursday and other gallery and art tours, you may consider attending an art fair as the next step toward immersing yourself in art.  Art fairs are a great way to see a lot of diverse art in a short time.  For several years there was even a Portland-based art fair called The Affair at the Jupiter Hotel which brought galleries from up and down the West Coast and collectors from as far away as Atlanta, Georgia, to Portland each September.
